WHAT DOES AN ORGANISATIONAL COACHING PROGRAM LOOK LIKE?


For those organisations seeking to adopt an external coaching methodology into their business to enhance the skills and development of their middle to senior managers, my approach is similar to the personal 1-2-1 experience where the relationship starts with a discovery session.


In the discovery session we will ask:

1.   What areas or topics might be most useful to look at for the coaching sessions

2.   What simple goals does the organisation have currently and / or working towards

3.   What learning and self-development goals have been identified with the coaching cohort. 


It is important for me to understand your organisational vision, strategy and goals and why you think coaching might support your organisation. The discovery session will help me to understand your aims and objectives for the coaching programme, how many people will be involved in the cohort and whether it is aimed at an individual level or team mentoring/facilitated sessions. The hourly rate is the same as personal 1-2-1 sessions.


Every coaching programme is tailored to meet individual needs and can also be adapted on the way. Things are never set in stone as we don’t live in a world where things stand still!

A SOLUTION FOCUSED APPROACH


My approach with organisations is to build a coaching environment that helps to stimulate a positive culture, empowering those being coached to understand how to problem solve and look for solutions. When organisations grow it inevitably brings change; change can be stressful for individuals and often they have no one internally to turn to in confidence to address their anxiety, how to overcome their fears, potential conflicts or simply discuss a better way of doing things. At the heart of this approach is the need to look at collaboration and understand people; their behaviours and how they can remove bias from their own decision making.


My style of coaching is anchored around a solutions-focussed methodology that helps to encourage the coachee to consider several solutions rather than focus their attention and energy on the problem. It is an outcome/action led approach that is goal-directed and client-centered, that sets individual actions for help them ‘get things done’.


Each conversation is confidential, and each conversation will be different based on the individual and what they seek help with. The sessions are to be seen as a learning experience that helps to stimulate their growth mindset. The output of each session is a set of notes for reflection and suggested reading materials, individuals are also encouraged to share these with others in the workplace. I report any patterns or themes, with permission from the individuals, if there is something useful for the organisation to know to help improve the way it is operating.
